The literal meaning of prasiolite is scallion green colored stone in greek.

Amethyst is known to be purple in color. So using the term Green amethyst is misleading & can make you liable for prosecution in the US. There is naturally heated purple amethyst that metamorphisises to prasiolite but the almost all on the market are purple amethyst heated up to around 500 degrees celcius (or irridated) to give it its pastel green hue.

Prasiolite is said to provide clarity of thought as well as believed to attract fortunate circumstances to those who work with it.
